We are situated on the edge of the A541 Mold to Denbigh road Approximately 5 miles from the market town of Mold.

There has been a pub on this site for over 300 years and at the time of the Cilcain mine disaster in the late 19th century the Coroners Court into the deaths of the 12 men was held here at The Oak.

All around us there are miles and miles of pleasant walks and for the more adventurous the opportunity to go underground in the old mines. These trips however must be arranged before hand with the Grovenor Caving Club based at Chester.

The ambiance of our community pub is very old fashioned; we have no juke box, as we firmly believe that conversation should rule the evening.

On a Sunday night we hold a community quiz. Teams of any number can enter with prizes for the winners and losers and a lot of fun for everybody. On Friday night you can join in Playing Your Cards, the weekly prize varies but it has been as much as £300.

On the first and second Saturday of the month we have great fun in playing Bingo.
On the third and fourth Saturday we all gather around the organ and belt out all the old favourites together, Irish Eyes, Down at the Old bull and Bush as well as Myfanwy, Sosban Fach and many more. It really is a fun night.

We also have a pool table, and a large television in the bar to watch rugby and other games – we do not however have SKY.

As we prepare to add to our little pub with seven letting bedrooms and a new restaurant at the moment we do not have a kitchen and we therefore do not prepare any food. None the less a great welcome awaits everybody.

In May 2004 we have added a ramp for easy access to the disabled and we have opened out the old fire place. We have a roaring fire going most nights, warm and welcoming.

We pride ourselves on the quality of our ales and offer at least two cask ales over the bar at any one time. Often we have five ales on the go including special ale from Plassey which we have called, “Cwrw Tomos Yr Hendre”.

On the field next to the pub it is possible to camp using the facilities of the pub. We have no licence for caravans unfortunately but tents and trailer tents can be set up. We can also set up a limited number of electrical connections.
